The main crops we grow are Cabbage, Lettuce, Spinach, Summer Greens
and Herbs, Broccoli, Summer and Winter Squash and Wheat. We
grow these products not only for the fresh market, but also for
the frozen and processed industries. However, we also
do other wonderfully creative things such as make garlic and pepper
garlands and very decorative Christmas wreaths for the festive season. We
are flexible, creative and have the ability to tackle just about
any special project or idea... with flair!
The cool summer nights at almost 6,000 feet produce the highest
quality organic summer green vegetables. The lower evening
temperatures (diurnal effect) ensure that the flavor of our vegetables
is sweet and the texture full and scrumptious. Your
customers will notice the difference.
We are able to provide you with your main line of summer greens
from the end of April through October, with the peak shipping months
being August and September. Further, we can provide these items
in sufficient quantity that you will be able to plan a promotion
using only organic product! In addition, we are able to ship you
the items that will make the difference on your summer wet track. These
include red and green chards, collards, kale, cilantro parsley and
bunch beets. We ship yellow, red and white onions from July through
December. Leeks and Italian red sweets are available from July through
the end of October.
This is the other line for which we are truly renowned. The
Colorado fall, with it's warm days and cool nights, helps us in
producing an outstanding line of organic winter squash. Frequently
our favorite variety, Kabocha, has a brix level reaching 18!
We have the main varieties such as Pumpkin, Acorn, White Acorn,
Gold Acorn, Carnival Acorn Banana, Buttercup, Butternut, Delicata,
Kabocha, Orangetti and Stripetti. However, we can also
add interest to your fall squash display with other more exotic
varieties such as Rouge D'Etampes, Sweet Dumpling, Turban, Baby
Blue and Gold Hubbard, Gold Nugget and many more from around the
world.
Our specialty is a festive bin display, "Tutti Fruitti," of fall
squash that you may place directly on your retail floor to add instant
color and eye appeal to your produce department and provide added
excitement for your customers. We have the merchandising
(recipes, nutritional information, posters) to go along with it
to entice your customers to look beyond just the Acorn Squash.
Our
commitment is to provide you with the highest quality vegetables
from April through October. This commitment begins with
our growing only organic vegetables and extends through to the quality
of the vegetable your customer takes home:
- We plant using only the highest quality varieties and seeds.
- We harvest only when the vegetables are in peak condition.
- We take care of our vegetables after harvest to ensure they
maintain their peak condition. A hydrovac instantly
removes the field heat and the product reaches you with excellent
shelf life. We also employ the use of a hydrocooler
and a liquid ice system for the proper products.
- We carefully place pack our vegetables so that when you open
the box they are in the same condition as when they left our cold
storage. Should your customer happen to be there as
you place the vegetables on the rack, they too will be impressed
by the care with which we pack and ship our product. Like
your Mom used to say, "a place for everything and everything in
its place"... an organized pack goes a long way toward the reduction
of shrinkage in your store!
- We attach point of sale to our vegetables so your customer will
be able to identify the item and know how to prepare it when they
arrive home. We have and continue to be a leader in
UPC and PLU innovation!
Being an organic grower, producing food that is both safe and good
for your health is the philosophy by which we live. We have in place
both Good Agricultural Practices for our fields and Good Management
Practices for our packing sheds and cold storage. We
conduct Independent Third Party Audits during our season.
We were the first in the state to be certified
with the Colorado Department of Agriculture. In the past we
have been certified by CCOF, Oregon Tilth and OGBA for special projects.
The cool summer nights at almost 6,000 feet in Colorado produce
some of the sweetest most flavorful squash in the country.
The Japanese are famous for the quality of their Kabocha. But
as may be seen from our test results, Grant Farms Kabocha was much
sweeter and drier (fluffier!) than even the standards demanded by
the Japanese government.

The
Colorado high plateau produces some of the highest quality organic
summer green vegetables. The lower evening temperatures
(diurnal effect) ensure that the flavor of our spinach is sweet
and the texture full and scrumptious. Your customers
will notice the difference.
When tested by Colorado State University in 1996, Grant Farms Savoy
Spinach was sweeter than flat leaf spinach:
